TEACHER TRAINING WORKSHOP
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

TED Kayseri College’s teacher trainer Zuhal Yıldırım organized a workshop for the English teachers on the topic “Classroom Management”. Various activities were made and many different and creative ideas on managing the students were shared between the teachers. All in one, the seminar was very efficient and informative.

ETTO PRIMARY

English Teacher Training Online Course

In 2008, The Turkish Education Association together with the British Council started an English Teacher Training Online course (ETTO) for all newly recuited English teachers of Ted Colleges.
ETTO is an online teacher development course designed for primary school teachers of English who would like to upgrade their teaching skills without attending a face-to-face course. It is delivered completely online via Module.

The course is 50 hours long. This includes online work, where the participants have to complete tasks and discuss topics with other colleagues plus self study. Self study includes assignments, lesson planning and reflection on their lessons. The course starts in mid October and lasts until the end of December.

There are 6 modules, which also involve lots of live classroom videos showing the techniques being used. Participants are assigned to an on-line tutor (in 2010, there are 2 tutors) who will support them throughout the course.

2 nd ELT CONFERENCE

TED Kayseri College, taking the mission of being the school of the city, organised a seminer.In this seminar there were two topics. One of them was Blended Learning presented by Elna Coatzer and the other one "Task-Based Learning" presented by Amanda Yücel.

Lots of teachers from state schools attended the seminar and at the end of the seminar they were given certificates by our directors.

First In-service Teacher Training Seminar at TED College

Our primary school English teacher Zuhal Yıldırım  attended teacher training seminars organised by Turkish Education Association and she carried out  her first in-service teacher training seminar about Testing  on 20th January 2011 with the participation of 14 English teachers in English Department.  Teresa Doğuelli,one of the most  famous teacher trainers in Turkey, has observed her session and said that it was very effective.

INNOVATIVE THINKING SKILLS
Since the academic year 2009-2010, teacher training courses have been provided for one of
the English tachers chosen from each TED schools within the context of the English Language Teaching  standardisation.
Zuhal YILDIRIM, TED Kayseri College teacher trainer ,attended ‘Innovative Thinking Skills’(30 hours) organised by ISTESOL  in Antalya between 7-11 February 2011.
