KINDERGARTEN DEPARTMENT
The main principal of Kindergarten is to make the individual child physically, emotionally and socially well-equipped. 5 and 6 year-old kids learn their responsibilities in their environment, family and school. They also start to think in multidimensional ways, to question their environment and to become aware of their rights and others’ freedom.
The Kindergarten’s program consists of different approaches such as  Project Based Learning, the Gymboree Approach, the  Reggio Emilia Approach, GEMS (Great Explorations in Math and Science), the Primary Years Program (PYP), the Waldorf Schools Program , the  Head Start Education Program, the High/Scope Approach, Montessori Approach. We apply different methods and techniques based on these approaches. These methods are problem solving, puzzle, games, brain storming, group work, demonstrations, deduction-induction, drama, concept and mind maps, competitions and exploring.
In our kindergarten, our pupils’ skills, knowledge, interests and motivation are reinforced through extra-curricular activities and clubs such as in Drama, Computer, Science, Music, Arts and Crafts, Physical Education, Folk Dances, Swimming, Playground Hours and English.
Our English Education Program totals 8 hours a week. The aim of the program prepared for 5 and 6 years old kids is to make the kids love English, to construct the awareness of a foreign language and to awake their willingness to learn English. The objective of this program is to make pupils use English for the purpose of communication. Therefore, listening and speaking activities are applied intensively in the lessons. In these activities, we use flashcards, puppets, stories, songs, games and TPR activities and audio-visual aids in order to have enjoyable and effective English learning. Furthermore, Revision Worksheets sent to the parents every two weeks enable pupils to get permanent English learning and revise the previous knowledge. Thus, pupils can begin to use English in their own lives outside the school. )
